  • DVD
  • 100 MB Zip
  • 250 MB Zip

Supported Fonts:

  • Adobe Type
  • Type I
  • Any Postscript Fonts

(We do not support Multiple Master and some TrueType fonts and will replace with the closest postscript version.)

NOTE: All files from PC platform will have substituted fonts. This can cause text reflow. Please try to use fonts with a Macintosh counterpart. (i.e. Adobe, House Industries, Letraset, etc.)

Supported File Formats:

  • Any native file formats from the above Applications list
  • EPS, TIF, PDF; All other formats should be converted to one of the preceding formats.
(We do not support .wmf or .gif files)

NOTES:
PrintMailers basic electronic job workflow is:

  • Quark, Indesign or PDF - Create or Preflight
  • Nexus Rip/Trap - B&W Laser Proof, PDF Proof Preps Impo - HP or Epson Color Proof
  • Fuji CTP Plating System

Files built in Illustrator, FreeHand, or Photoshop will be placed in Quark or Indesign before being RIPped.

Guidelines for 4 color artwork:

  • Convert all images to CMYK. (RGB, Indexed Color, etc. will not image)
  • Convert all spot colors to CMYK.
  • Save Photoshop tiffs without LZW compression.
  • Save Photoshop eps with Preview: Macintosh (8bit/pixel) and Encoding: Binary
(Do not use JPG Compression, Transfer Functions or Halftone Screening on EPS)

Guidelines for Spot color artwork:

  • Keep naming conventions the same across all programs. (Watch for PANTONE 123 C, CV, CVC and CVU).
  • Designate a PANTONE match for colors like RED, GREEN, BLUE, GOLD, etc. Remove all unused spot colors from all graphic files.
  • All colors in graphic elements need to be set to their respective spot colors. Make sure they separate properly when running separations.

Submitting Art

  • Provide final composite and separated lasers.
  • All fonts need to be supplied, printer and screen fonts.
  • Include all graphics, including embedded and linked files. In order to insure proper trap and output, the RIP needs access to all files.
  • Provide all information regarding project specs including: dimensions, color designations, bleed information, folding instructions, version information, number of pieces, file names, and any special instructions.
  • We can receive files via EZ Order, e-mail and ftp but will still require faxed lasers and all fonts and graphics. Use Stuffit or WinZip to compress files before sending.

PrintMailers Output Specifications/Recommendations

  • All plate output at 175 lpi/2400 dpi.
    (Unless otherwise specified)
  • We recommend all image files be at least 200 dpi at the final output size. Preferred resolution is 300 dpi at 100% final output size. Line art should be even higher: 1200 dpi recommended.
  • All PC and some TrueType fonts may be substituted.
Documents need to be set to final trim size.
  • Bleeds need to be set to 1/8" minimum.
  • Do not use attribute "buttons" for type effects i.e. Bold, Italic, Shadow, Outline or to flip graphics. These effects will not work correctly for final film output. Use the Bold and Italic versions of the font instead. Rotate images in the application they were created in. For shadow or outline convert type to path or create a manual drop shadow.

Remember, we're not saying all this to be mean... it's our experience that if you follow these rules, the chances are excellent that your job will flow smoothly-- which means your job will keep on shedule.

We know this can be confusing! Please feel free to contact the Art/Prepress Department with questions regarding these art submission guidelines. 832.201.2000
